You can place an order entirely online at tesla.com or through the Tesla app. Select your preferred model, configure your options (color, wheels, FSD), review the order summary, and complete payment. A $250 order deposit is required for most models, which is refundable before your vehicle is assigned to production. You'll receive email confirmation and can track your order status in real time through your Tesla account.
Yes. You can modify most order details — including configuration changes — via your Tesla account as long as your vehicle hasn't been assigned a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Once a VIN is assigned, changes may be limited. You can cancel your order at any time before delivery to receive a full refund of your order deposit. After delivery, standard return and trade-in options apply.
Service appointments can be scheduled directly through the Tesla app — tap 'Schedule Service' on your vehicle screen. You'll be able to describe the issue, select from available Service Centers, and pick a time slot. Tesla Mobile Service can perform many repairs at your home or workplace. You'll receive push notifications and in-app updates on your appointment status throughout the process.
Tesla vehicles come with a 4-year / 50,000-mile Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty and a separate Battery & Drive Unit warranty that ranges from 8 years / 100,000 miles (Model 3 RWD) up to 8 years / 150,000 miles (Model S and Model X). The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Wear items such as brake pads and tires are not covered. Autopilot hardware and software is covered under the basic vehicle warranty.
A standard Powerwall installation typically takes 4–8 hours for a single unit. Your Tesla-certified installation crew will assess your electrical panel, mount the Powerwall unit (indoor or outdoor), connect it to your home's electrical system, and commission the unit. You'll be guided through the Tesla Energy app setup before the crew leaves. Wait times for scheduling vary by region — currently 2–6 weeks in most US markets.
Yes. The Residential Clean Energy Credit (under the Inflation Reduction Act) provides a 30% federal tax credit on the total installed cost of solar panels, Solar Roof tiles, and battery storage systems like Powerwall. This credit is available through 2032, then steps down to 26% in 2033 and 22% in 2034. Consult a tax advisor regarding your eligibility. Tesla provides documentation to support your IRS Form 5695 filing.
Supercharger pricing varies by location and is billed per kWh in most regions, or per minute in areas where kWh billing is not permitted by law. Current US rates average $0.25–$0.50 per kWh. Tesla owners can view real-time pricing in the Navigation or Charging menus on the touchscreen or in the app before routing to a Supercharger. No membership is required — payment is automatic through your Tesla account on file.
